MAG’s three major airports span the length and breadth of the country, and approximately 70% of the UK population live within a two-hour drive of a MAG airport.

Our airports play a unique role in driving economic prosperity in the regions they serve, supporting trade, jobs, and skills. They also play a vital role in the decarbonisation of the aviation sector by developing strategic partnerships with suppliers of low and zero emission fuel, and securing permission for on-site developments that will aid progress towards net zero operations by 2038.

Manchester Airport is the UK’s global gateway in the North, and in 2023 served 25m passengers. Manchester is the only airport outside of London with two full-length runways, and is home to 49 airlines serving 196 destinations across four continents. The airport is currently completing the final phase of its £1.3bn transformation programme, which is set for completion in 2025.

London Stansted Airport serves connections to more European destinations than any other airport in the UK, as well as providing access to the rest of the world through its daily links to Dubai. It is the only major UK airport with spare runway capacity, and last year secured permission to extend its terminal building to support future growth. The airport served 25m passengers in 2023, across 194 destinations.

East Midlands Airport is a popular regional hub for business and leisure travel across Europe, offering passengers across the Midlands a strong array of affordable and stress-free travel options. The airport is also home to the UK’s largest pure freight operation, playing a vital role in UK global trade. In 2023 East Midlands served 3.3m passengers across 63 destinations, and handled 395,000 tonnes of cargo.
